Moolmanshoek proudly hosts two endurance rides annually, affiliated with the Endurance Ride Association of South Africa (ERASA). Distances vary from 40 to 80km, making it one of the most scenic rides in the Free State. These rides are perfect for training experienced horses and providing novice horses with valuable experience.

Under the guidance of Wiesman Nel and his experienced equestrian team, our outrides are customised and guaranteed to ignite your spirit of adventure. A true horseman, Wiesman gained international acclaim after competing in the ultimate endurance race—the Mongol Derby in Mongolia—where he secured second place in 2019.

Wiesman began competing in endurance races at the tender age of seven, when he completed his first 100km horse race. Since then, he has built a highly successful career in endurance riding, always choosing to ride to finish rather than to win. His expertise in preparing and training horses to compete at peak condition—along with his skill in mentoring riders—is second to none.

Wiesman believes that horses should be treated in the way they naturally respond best: with respect, understanding, and care. This philosophy produces happy, well-trained animals and ensures a fantastic riding experience for our guests.

South Africa’s vast landscapes offer riders the rare opportunity to explore on horseback for hours on end. Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve boasts 15 wildlife species you can observe while traversing the reserve on horseback. This package includes a delightful stay at Moolmanshoek Lodge with breakfast, dinner and bed included.
